TRELLECH MEDICAL CENTRE

David Howell working with Cowlin Construction and Ashley House PLC built  this 473 sq metre 2 GP and Nurse Practitioner surgery for the Wye Valley Practice serving the village of Trellech in the heart of the Welsh countryside. 


Previously operating out of two separate premises the new surgery has become the main surgery for the practice as well as a focal point for health care advice, treatment, information and community support. Working closely with the local planning department and the Design Commission for Wales the focus was to provide a modern clean flexible environment with a building that sat comfortably in it’s rural setting.

HAVANT MEDICAL CENTRE

A new 1,400 m² ‘fit for purpose’ modern day primary care facility for the Bosmere Medical practice who formerly occupied the overcrowded and outdated Havant Health Centre.

David Howell with Ashley House PLC was involved throughout the project from preparing early design proposals, Obtaining planning approval, construction drawings right through to the preparation of ‘as built ‘drawings in 2007.


The design of the building was informed very much by Havant planning department’s wish that it  be a new landmark building given it’s prominent location.

WILLOW SURGERY, DOWNEND

A new 1,400 m² ‘fit for purpose’ modern day primary care facility with pharmacy for the 8 GP Willow Surgery who had formerly occupied a small outdated property in Downend.

David Howell was involved throughout the project from having initially taken the  client brief to preparing detail designs and 3D imagery up to and including planning approval and thereafter supervising the production of the tender package and working drawings  designing the  surgery’s willow logo and letterhead.

HOUSE NORTH OF CARDIFF

Completed on 2017, this prestigious two storey residential property occupies a hilltop location overlooking the Taff valley and Cardiff.


David Howell not only prepared all the design drawings for the planning application and client approval but also all of the drawings required for construction and building regulations approval.

HOUSE EXTENSION, LONDON

The clients were looking to create a rear extension that would extend the living/kitchen space of a 3 storey victorian terraced house in Herne Hill. The final design incorporated a large orangery enabling natural daylight into the new extension and the spaces beyond.

During the course of the design David Howell used 3D modelling to allow the client's to properly appreciate alternative elevational treatments as well as predicting the shadow effects for different seasons and times of day.

CONSERVATION/CONVERSION PROJECTS

As well as 'new build' projects and extensions David Howell has been involved in a number of successful conversion project include this former Parish Hall near Nelson

INTERIORS

A great deal of thought goes into the design of a building's internal layout which and how it will function. A classic example of this is the design of reception areas in primary healthcare premises where a careful  balance is sought to achieve a welcoming environment whilst enabling reception staff to oversee the waiting areas and the and the approaches to the clinical areas.
